FEEDING AMERICA - National
Established in 1979 as a clearinghouse for national food donations, Feeding America is now the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Feeding America secures donations from national food and grocery manufacturers, retailers, shippers, packers and growers and from government agencies and other organizations. This donated food and grocery product is then distributed to member food banks such as the North Texas Food Bank.
NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK (NTFB) - Area
Food banks, in turn, have food and grocery items available for distribution through local food pantries and meal programs serving families, children, seniors and others at risk of hunger. Good Samaritans of Garland is a member agency of the North Texas Food Bank. Membership benefits member agencies by offering food for a small 7¢ to 14¢ per pound handling fee. Good Samaritans often obtains essential proteins such as beef, poultry, and pork from NTFB when retail supply wanes.
RETAIL PARTNERS - Local
Good Samaritans’ Retail Partners include Garland, Rowlett, Sachse, and Wylie Wal-Marts. Our retail partners donate meat, produce, canned goods, breads, and sweets on a consistent schedule. Other donating retail partners are Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Bimbo Bakeries.
COMMUNITY PARTNERS – Groups & Individuals
Community partnering is invaluable in providing needed resources and volunteers to help in the day-to-day operations. All and any donations--large or small, individual or corporate, on-site or off—are greatly appreciated. We truly value and enjoy our community partners!
