On Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, Good Sam gifts our clients with a reusable bag of Thanksgiving sides (corn, green beans, pie makings, etc.) and a $15 grocery gift card for their choice of meat. This is possible due to the generosity of churches, businesses, Scouts, and individuals who fill a reusable bag with requested food items and a gift card and return to Good Sam. The community response has been so overwhelming Good Sam has shared Thanksgiving bags for GISD families in need. We are so grateful for the support of our community who helps us help others!
On a Friday in December, Good Sam hosts a hot home-cooked meal and a winter-wear shopping event for our unhoused neighbors. Our unhoused neighbors shop for coats, hats, gloves, socks, and blankets which have been donated by our community partners.
Building community is a Core Value of Good Sam and frequently throughout the warmer months, Good Sam will have a picnic for all of our neighbors. Often, a community partner will join us in feeding and welcoming our housed and unhoused neighbors.
